Hello, I'm Amy
Magic, memory, folklore & heritage are the golden threads that run through all of my work.
My childhood was spent in an ancient Welsh village in Snowdonia where generations of my family had lived. Nestled in mountains, waterfalls, woodland and miles of fields covered with bluebells, daisies and primroses in spring. The perfect backdrop for a little creative mind, a wonderland full of inspiration.
This upbringing gave me a deep appreciation of nature, a strong sense of culture, family roots and tradition.
My inspiration comes from everywhere , little glimmers- moments. I have a deep love for pattern and colour which comes from a long line of family magpies but also from my degree in printed textiles. I also adore childrens book illustrations for their beautiful colour palettes, details and nostalgia.
14 years ago I had a lightbulb moment, whilst on honeymoon in the Austrian lakes. I happened upon a woodcarver in his glorious, tiny little shop. Like a scene from Pinocchio he had created a magical environment surrounded by beautifully crafted objects. Each one individual, handmade crafted with care, purpose and meaning.
This sparked my imagination and fell in line with my own passion, it was here the seeds for my business were sown and my adventure began.
Following a 15 year career as and Art teacher and becoming a mum to three girls, including twins I slowly started to explore my own creativity. I found great success in being a cake artist for a few years creating cover designs for magazines but covid soon changed my direction yet again... the little wood carver was still in the back of my mind!
I started by painting a small collection of hand painted baubles inspired by folky bohemian pattern. The response was unbelievable so I took the leap of faith and started to develop a Christmas collection of hand painted decorations. The rest, as they say is history...
My business continues to go from strength to strength. I have built a loyal and supportive instagram community which I am so grateful for. I have been featured as an artisan in Country Homes and Interiors magazine and Period Living Magazine. It was a true honour to create a piece of work for Holly Tucker MBE which features in her book ' Do What you Love, Love What You DO'- such a pinch me moment!
